The Western Australian government has announced a $4.3 million community centre to provide social and economic benefits to Hopetown.
Minister for Regional Development, Terry Redman, said the construction would also renovate existing facilities.
"Significant discussion with current users, stakeholders and the wider Hopetoun community has ensured the new centre will showcase and enhance the local community's character and meet their needs for decades to come," Redman said.
The Hopetown Community Resource Centre was partially funded by the State government’s Royalties for Regions program.
The centre will include a community hall with stage, integrated sound system, seating for 180 people, as well as an enlarged office space.
"The Goldfields-Esperance Revitalisation Fund is helping build a social and infrastructure platform for the region's economic development and will drive growth and new investment," he said.
Redman said the new community centre was the first project to be completed under funding from the Goldfields-Esperance Revitalisation Fund.
The Royalties for Regions program has invested $6.1 billion into regional projects since 2008.
