Kwinana wastewater upgrades complete

Posted On June 1, 2016

More than $15.2 million worth of wastewater system upgrades have been completed in Bertram, Parmelia and Orelia.

Minister for Water, Mia Davies, said the upgrades were vital for contained regions within Kwinana.

"The Water Corporation project included 4.2 kilometres of new wastewater main and a storage tank, and an upgrade to the pump station on Bertram Road," Davies said.

"This followed on from another project the corporation completed in September 2015 to construct 3.2km of wastewater main through the Kwinana town centre and Medina.  A wastewater pump station on Dalrymple Drive in Leda was also upgraded as part of the project."

The corporation worked closely with local residents and businesses to minimise the impact to the community.

More than 16,000km of wastewater pipe across WA are managed by the Water Corporation.

"I thank the local community for their patience and co-operation while essential work was carried out," she said.

"This significant investment ensures wastewater will continue to be managed efficiently, safely and sustainably.

99.97% of waste water derives from showers, baths and washing machines.
