The Western Australian government is dedicating $2.3 million towards the widening and refurbishment of the Bussell Highway.
Minister for Transport, Dean Nalder, said the funding would improve the journey for motorists using the intersection.
"Bussell Highway is an important transport and tourist route linking Margaret River and Busselton," Nalder said.
"Widening the bridge and providing a dedicated right turn onto the highway will reduce the potential and severity of crashes. These works will ultimately increase safety for all road users."
Works will include the refurbishment of the bridge over Carbunup River to a 10 metre seal, at Wildwood Road.
Funding for the project has been made available as part of the Safer Roads Program as part of on-going government funding.
Fulton Hogan is expected to carry out the project by the Main Roads' Integrated Service Agreements contractor.
Works are expected to be completed early 2016.
