Premier Mark McGowan has recently presented the City of Rockingham with a $900,000 grant from Lotterywest to help with the construction of the Baldivis South Community Centre.
Baldivis South Community Centre will cater for the rapidly growing community and will include a hall, kitchen and indoor and outdoor children's activity spaces. The multi-purpose hub will facilitate a wide range of community activities and uses, including meetings and events, arts and cultural activities, playgroups, leisure and recreation.
With a focus on families with young children, the centre will also feature two consultation rooms providing space for the provision of support services.
The centre will be managed by the City of Rockingham and will be available to the community seven days a week.
The Premier spoke of the need for facilities like the BSCC in gorwing regional communities.
"Over the past decade, the City of Rockingham population has grown dramatically and is now home to more than 130,000 residents.
"The Baldivis South Community Centre will provide a whole new range of facilities, creating more opportunities for local residents, people from surrounding areas and community groups to interact.
"The State Government, though Lotterywest, is pleased to have contributed to this welcomed community development."
Construction of the centre at 29-35 Chapel Street, Baldivis is expected to commence in 2018 and is due for completion by mid-2019.
